What she did not understand and could not was there were too few people like that in the world. For in the world there were mainly those who were concerned about themselves and what they could take from others. It was a bleak world, where people who had problems were often ignored or shuffled off to facilities where they could be kept out of sight.
In her attempts to find such a friend she encountered much rejection. Most people just ignored her but a few tried to trick her into believing they were the person she was looking for. By doing this they hoped to expose her as a fraud. For they could not believe the things she told them were real. To do so would make them face the unpleasant things in the world and all they wanted were to forget those things so they could continue in their ways. But she knew there must be others like her somewhere in the world. She knew she could not be the only one who grew to fast and wanted a friendship that would last.
DeeDee tried to think of ways in which she could find the others like herself without being locked away. She was getting tired of being ignored and being tricked but she just could not give up. To give up meant she would always be alone and never understand why the cruelty existed in her life. Of course that was the goal of the majority. For if the few people who acknowledged that cruelness could be silenced they could continue to pretend it never existed.
Would the world ever change? DeeDee believed it could. If and only if people could and would open their eyes and hearts. If the majority could somehow find a way to stop ignoring and locking away the problems. She knew it would take a miracle but she believed in miracles.
